2nd class reflection (part 3)

Assalamualaikum and hello

In ensuring the quality of a work or product, the quality of the process must also be taken seriously. In other word, the second assignment which addresses the importance of process in getting the work done is good as it provide the understanding of the product development from the start to the end part. I believe this is relevant and vital factor in the teaching and learning process in the classroom where the skill or knowledge of specific subject need to be taught from the basic to the complex level based on their development. Even for me, I think that the teaching of software and computer application should be taught step by step so that I can understand and master the progress of every stage of the application.

As a conclusion of this short reflection, I believe the process is important as the product and the assignment help to address this importance so that as a teacher to be, vital factor in mastering specific knowledge and skill must be taken seriously. In addition, it must also be based on the individual development of the pupils and not merely generalization of abilities and progress of development.

2nd class reflection (part 2)

Assalamualaikum and hello.

We meet again. This is the continuance of the second day class (even tough not written on the exact date) which I considered relevant to be included in my blog (my own feeling). Basically, it is all about how I tried to understand the information on the second assignment. Before this, my friend had introduced me on how to use the search engine, finding images as well as animation. But when it comes to the encoder, I became blur on where to find it until I remember one website that provide free download named http://www.filecluster.com. It helps particularly in providing me with the encoding tools necessary for this course. Besides that, it is user friendly, systematically arranged, reviewed and graded for the ease of use.

On the website, I tried to download as many applications as I can, depending on the use and rating besides its availability (whether it is a shareware, freeware or commercial). After that, it came to the testing time where the application will be tested based on the ease of use and other criteria provided by my friend. The trial and error approach was a good way to test the application in the sense that event though I tried doing it individually, I still require others help particularly when it comes to the setting or difficult application.


After some time, I managed to understand the use of specific applications that are required for the second assignment. Again, I am thankful to the God for giving me the chance to learn from one of His great creation of knowledge. Alhamdulillah.

2nd class reflection (part 1)

Second class reflection

Assalamulaikum and hello.

Firstly I was grateful to God for giving me a chance to learn something new and amazing from one of His creation. The second class proved to be a valuable experience as it contains lots of information regarding assignment as well as computer application. As the class started, lecturer asked us to select a group of five or six which must be comprising of multi racial and multi gender. I selected group number together with Izyan, Fara Filzah, Arina, and Tan Ai Choo. I was the only male in the group but it never hindered my effort to work and learn with them. Before that, we were introduced to the assignment for this course. The first one deals with the blogging particularly on reflection of the class activity and events besides the addition of new information that are considered relevant to the improvement of the class. The other one is on the portfolio where we have to find the resources by using web search, downloading, encoding, storing and saving files.

On the second class, we were taught on what are the differences of the non technology resources and the technology resources. This is important as it provide a warm up exercise for us before understanding the deeper knowledge of the technology. In addition, the education expert claimed that for the students who are exposed to a new knowledge that are not background based, it is mandatory to have a warm up exercise that are related to the student’s background. Apart from that, the use of peer-assistance in the learning process was also encouraged as demonstrated by my group members when they help me to understand the intricacies and complexities of the computer application. I am grateful and believe that everyone should work together to achieve the aims and objective of the group. In other word, it is what we called “cooperative learning”.

The lecturer showed important slide about how to create a tutorial. I believed this is important for the future teaching as it helps to systematically deliver the knowledge particularly on how to use a specific application or software. It also helps me a lot as it improves my knowledge of the technology. The cooperative learning is applied again when my friend showed me how to put the images needed in the creation of tutorial by pressing Ctrl, Alt and Prt Scr. Beside that, they also showed me how to add an element to the blog site. I chose to add link of internet website which I considered relevant to the blog. Personally speaking, the blog application was user friendly and applicable in the sense that a new user like me can understand the basic of blogging.

In addition to that, they also taught me on how to download videos from youtube using the keepvid website. The knowledge was valuable in the sense that I don’t have to take on the hard way of downloading the videos which I considered an ease and grateful for it.
All in all, I’m thankful to God for His great creation and to my lecturer as well as my friends because without them, nothing can be achieved and I will still be on the same pace of knowing only the hardware but not the equally important software. I believed that I have to strive more to improve the knowledge and skill so that I will be able to be on par with those good computer user. Thank you again to all the parties concerned.

First class reflection

The utilization of creative and interesting material in the teaching and learning process is vital to the creation of successful learning experience in the classroom. In particular, primary pupils in the ESL classroom required effective teaching and learning resources that helps them to master the target language proficiently and fluently. The first class of using and developing resources for ESL classroom helps me to realize the importance of creating creative and interesting resources as well as material which is up-to-date and in parallel with the era of globalization.

The introduction of blogging was a new experience for me although I have heard about it before. Some of my friend already familiar with the blogging and it helps a lot when it comes to creating the new blog site for the class. Personally speaking, I cannot understand much about the internet application or software partly because I am not really fond of trying the software (afraid of interrupting the system in the computer if the new software is installed) and I prefer to learn it hand-on rather than reading it from the book or explained by the expert. In addition, since I am an avid reader of computer of computer hardware, inevitably, I have to learn it so that it helps me to become a good computer user who does not only possess the knowledge of the hardware but also the software.

Before entering the class, I was hoping that I can learn how to create a website. In other word, I believe it can be utilize for the education purposes in the sense that, it can become an interactive programme that provide constructive and interesting experience for the primary school pupils. There is a lot of website building tutorial found in the internet but as I said earlier, it will be more helpful if someone shows me how to do it. I found about how to make a basic website in the only Malay language computer magazine named “Majalah PC”. It used the hyperlink application to connect between the pages. I was very impressed with the creation of website in the internet but the scanty knowledge of the software involved hindered the interest.

All in all, everything was still new to me and I need to be accustomed to the creation of blog for every class. The reflection of what I have learned and acquired along the way will definitely benefit me in the future as it keeps me from forgetting the valuable knowledge as well as experience. I hope to learn more from my friend as well as lecturer so that I will be able to become up-to-date hypermedia user in this era of challenging globalization. Before I end my first blog, I want to say that it was nice to meet with the lecturer and being introduced to this course. Thank you again to my friend and lecturer.
